On the occasion of “Guru pournima” to worshipp our sadguru Saibaba, people from all over

Maharashtra collectively go singing and dancing, and chanting SaiRam-SaiShyam to the holy town of Shirdi.

The palkhi starts on 23rd June from Kasba Ganpati temple of Pune and will reach on 9th day 1st July to Holy place Shirdi.(dates change every year)

Shirdi today known as the spiritual capital of India is located on the near the Godavari river. Shri Saibaba Palkhi Sohla Samiti, has started “SAI PALKHI SOHLA (Festival)” in 1988 by the inspiration of ‘Dnyaneshwar maharaj palkhi sohla’.

Palkhi sohla is a unique feature of Maharashtrian culture, tradition followed by the warkaris (people who follow the wari, a fundamental ritual). People collectively go singing and dancing, chanting SaiRam-SaiShyam to the holy town of Shirdi in Hindu months of Ashadh (June-July). The Palkhi starts in the month of Jyeshth (June) and the whole process lasts a total of 12 days.

Shirdi lies at a distance of 265 km from Mumbai; 210 km from Pune; 120 km from Nasik; 600 km from Hyderabad; 1166 km from Delhi; 310 km from Sholapur; 80 km from Ahmednagar, its district headquarters, and 19 km from the nearest railhead, Kopergaon.
